Regular Season Round 25: Shiga L-Stars - Fukushima 82-81

Eighth-ranked Fukushima (7-18) gave a tough game to fifth ranked Shiga L-Stars (13-6). Shiga L-Stars managed to secure only one-point victory 82-81. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-17. But Fukushima won second period 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shiga L-Stars players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Yu Okada (184-83) nailed 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and American guard Terrance Woodbury (201-87, college: Georgia, agency: Haylett Sports) accounted for 18 points and 4 assists. Woodbury is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Terrance Shannon (203-90, college: VCU) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 20 rebounds and the other American import guard Verdell Jones III (195-89, college: Indiana) added 26 points and 9 assists respectively for Fukushima in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Shiga L-Stars maintains fifth place with 13-6 record. Fukushima lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth position with 18 games lost. They share it with Takamatsu FA and Shimane SM. Shiga L-Stars will again play against Fukushima (#9) at home in the next round. Fukushima will have a break next round.
