Regular Season Round 25: Correcaminos - Halc.Rojos 104-111 OT

Tenth-ranked Correcaminos (9-16) gave a tough game to first ranked Halcones Rojos (20-3) in Ciudad Victoria on Saturday. The visitors from Veracruz managed to secure only seven-point victory 111-104. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 28-25 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 7-point victory in overtime. Correcaminos were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Devin Ebanks (206-89, college: W.Virginia, agency: Interperformances) stepped up and scored 28 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and international guard Francisco Cruz (190-89, college: Wyoming) chipped in 22 points and 5 rebounds. Halcones Rojos' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American forward Greg Smith (198, college: Colorado St., agency: Interperformances) responded with 33 points (!!!) and the other American import power forward Mark Dawson (206-83, college: Long Beach St.) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. They have an impressive series of thirteen victories in a row. Halcones Rojos maintains first place with 20-3 record. Correcaminos at the other side keep the tenth position with 16 games lost. Halcones Rojos will face Huracanes (#5) in Tampico in the next round. Correcaminos will play at home against Halcones UV Xalapa (#3) and hope to win that game.
