Regular Season Round 15: Telekom Bsk - Braunschweig 92-71
Date: December 28, 2014
Very expected game in Bonn where 13th ranked Braunschweig (5-10) was crushed by sixth ranked Telekom Baskets (9-6) 92-71. It looked good early as Braunschweig took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Telekom Baskets had a 27-19 second period charge getting the lead and Braunschweig was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-92. Telekom Baskets made 25-of-31 charity shots (80.6 percent) during the game. Telekom Baskets outrebounded Braunschweig 37-26 including 25 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Braunschweig helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Lithuanian forward Tadas Klimavicius (204-82) who led his team to a victory with 28 points and 8 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). The former international center Dirk Madrich (212-83, agency: LUMANI 10.7) contributed with 11 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American guard Trent Lockett (196-90, college: Marquette) answered with 18 points and the other American import forward Tim Abromaitis (203-89, college: Notre Dame) added 13 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Braunschweig. Four Braunschweig players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Telekom Baskets. They maintain sixth place with 9-6 record. Braunschweig at the other side keeps the thirteenth position with ten games lost. Telekom Baskets' next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Crailsheim Merlins (#18) on the road which should be another easy win for them. Braunschweig will play against Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
