Regular Season Round 59: Portland TB - Toronto R. 102-97 OT

Guard Damian Lillard scored 25 points and dished out nine assists as the Portland Trail Blazers rallied from a 13-point second-half deficit to beat the Toronto Raptors 102-97 in overtime Tuesday night at the Moda Center. Forward LaMarcus Aldridge collected 23 points and 13 rebounds for the Trail Blazers (26-7), who won for the ninth time in 10 games. Guard Kyle Lowry had 25 points seven rebounds and five assists for the Raptors (24-8), who lost for only the second time in 10 games. Toronto guard Terrence Ross opened overtime with a 3-pointer, but Lillard, guard Wesley Matthews and forward Nicolas Batum knocked down consecutive 3's for a 96-90 Portland lead. The Raptors closed the gap to 96-94 on forward Patrick Patterson's put-back and Lowry's back-door layup, the latter with 57.7 seconds left. After Toronto was called for a clear-path foul with 29.2 seconds remaining, Batum made one of two at the line, but the Blazers retained the ball ahead 97-94 with 23.2 seconds to play. Lillard hit a pair of gift shots to make it 99-94 with 19.4 seconds left and Lowry scored on a drive to cut the lead to 99-96 with 17.1 seconds to go. Lillard sank one of two at the line to give Portland a 100-96 lead with 15.9 seconds remaining; then Lowry did the same at the other end to make it 100-97 with 12.4 seconds on the clock. Portland center Joel Freeland's dunk wrapped it up with 6.2 seconds left. Lowry scored 12 points to stake Toronto to a 45-38 halftime lead. Portland was 2-for-17, Toronto only 1-for-11 from 3-point range through intermission. The Raptors extended the advantage to 60-47 midway through the third quarter. It was 70-58 when the Blazers closed the quarter with five straight points to get to within 70-63. Guard Steve Blake's 3-pointer trimmed the margin to 77-73, and Aldridge followed with a turnaround jumper to make it 77-75 with 6:24 to play. Lowry answered with a long jumper and a pair of free throws to up the advantage to 81-75, but Batum's 3 sliced the difference to 81-78 with 5:20 left. Lowry canned two foul shots to make it 83-78, but the Blazers scored five straight to tie the game at 83-83 with 3:19 to go. After Ross and Matthews traded baskets, Aldridge sank a 15-footer to give Portland an 87-85 edge with 33 seconds on the clock. The Raptors got two shots -- both misses -- and the Blazers rebounded but turned the ball over with 17 seconds left. Lowry drove to the basket, but his layup was blocked out of bounds by Freeland with 10.1 seconds remaining. After a timeout, forward Amir Johnson scored on a post-up to tie it at 87 with 4.1 ticks left. After another timeout, Lillard air-balled a driving layup and it was on to overtime.
