Regular Season Round 16: Crailsheim - Telekom Bsk 87-90

Date: December 31, 2014
Eighteenth-ranked Crailsheim Merlins (2-14) made lots of trouble for sixth ranked Telekom Baskets (10-6). The visitors from Bonn managed to secure only three-point victory 90-87. However their fans expected much easier game. Crailsheim Merlins were ahead by 1 point after three quarters before a 26-22 charge of Telekom Baskets, which allowed them to win the game. They made 22-of-26 charity shots (84.6 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American guard Ryan Brooks (193-88, college: Temple) who scored that evening 23 points and the former international center Dirk Madrich (212-83, agency: LUMANI 10.7) supported him with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Even 17 points and 6 assists by American point guard Garrett Sim (185-90, college: Oregon) did not help to save the game for Crailsheim Merlins. Power forward Jannik Freese (211-86, agency: Octagon Europe) added 12 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Telekom Baskets have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Ratiopharm. Crailsheim Merlins at the other side stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Telekom Baskets' next round opponent will be higher ranked EWE Baskets (#4) in Oldenburg and it may be quite challenging game. Crailsheim Merlins will play on the road against Deutsche Bank Skyliners (#11) in Frankfurt and hope to win that game.
