There was no surprise when 10th ranked Vigarano (5-9) was defeated at home by second ranked Familia Schio (11-3) 76-59. The game without a history. Familia Schio led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Vigarano's 34. They outrebounded Vigarano 38-21 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. French center Isabelle Yacoubou (190-86, agency: Comsport) notched a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and the former international center Kathirin Ress (196-85, college: Boston Coll.) supported her with 8 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 12 points and 8 rebounds by Nigerian forward Uju Ugoka (185-93, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Vigarano. Serbian swingman Tanja Cirov (181-81) added 12 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Defending champion maintains second position with 11-3 record having just -3 point less than leader Ragusa. Newly promoted Vigarano keeps the tenth place with nine games lost. Familia Schio will play against Lucca (#7) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Vigarano will play against Battipaglia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
