An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Thessaloniki. Third ranked PAOK faced one of their biggest challengers Panathinaikos. Host PAOK (9-2) defeated guests from Athens (10-2) 71-54. Panathinaikos was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 41-22 second half run of PAOK. It was a good game for power forward Vangelis Margaritis (203-82) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. American guard Marc Antonio Carter (191-85, college: NC-Wilmington) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Four PAOK players scored in double figures. American James Gist (206-86) replied with 18 points and 7 rebounds and international forward Vladimir Jankovic (202-90, agency: Octagon Europe) added 9 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Panathinaikos. Panathinaikos' coach Dusko Ivanovic rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. PAOK have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 9-2 record having just three points less than leader Olympiacos. Defending champion Panathinaikos dropped to the second place with two games lost. PAOK will play against Aiolos Trikallon (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Panathinaikos will play against Apollon Patras (#6) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
