Bottom-ranked Adelaide Lightning managed to get a third victory, breaking the series of nine consecutive loses. This time they won against seventh-ranked West Coast Waves 78-61. They outrebounded West Coast Waves 50-31 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Adelaide Lightning players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a great evening for international center Laura Hodges (191-83) who led her team to a victory scoring 18 points and 7 rebounds. New Zealand-Italian point guard Angela Marino (166-86) helped adding 17 points and 6 assists. American forward Cassie Harberts (188-92, college: USC) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Sarah Graham (163-89) scored 17 points. Four West Coast Waves players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Adelaide Lightning maintains eighth place with 3-11 record. West Coast Waves lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with ten games lost. Adelaide Lightning will play against league's second-placed Bendigo Spirit on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. West Coast Waves will play against Sydney Uni Flames (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
