An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Beijing. First ranked Beijing Great Wall faced 3rd placed Shanxi Rui Flame. Host Beijing Great Wall (17-5) defeated guests from Taiyuan (15-7) 69-65. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Shanxi Rui Flame. The hosts were ahead by 5 points but lost the second period ending it with a 7-point deficit before their 23-12 run, which allowed them to win the game. Beijing Great Wall made 18-of-21 charity shots (85.7 percent) during the game, while Shanxi Rui Flame only scored two points from the stripe. It was a good game for American center Brittney Griner (203-90, college: Baylor) who led her team to a victory with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks. International forward Ting Shao (183-89) contributed with 20 points and 4 steals (perfect from the field making all six shots) for the winners. American Maya Moore (183-89, college: Connecticut) answered with 28 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and international power forward XueYa Ma (190-93) added 10 points and 7 assists in the effort for Shanxi Rui Flame. Beijing Great Wall maintains first place with 17-5 record. Defending champion Shanxi Rui Flame dropped to the second position with seven games lost. They share it with Jiangsu and Shanghai. Beijing Great Wall will play against Shanghai Octopus (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Shanxi Rui Flame will play against Bayi Kylin in Yinzhou and hopes to get back on the winning track.
