Kemba Walker had 31 points and four assists to push the Charlotte Hornets to their third straight win, defeating the New Orleans Pelicans, 98-94. Walker has already notched his 14th 30-plus point game of the season. The Hornets are 11-3 when Walker has scored 30 or more points this season. New Orleans was off to a great start, making 49 percent of their shots in the opening quarter. Despite their hot shooting from the field, Charlotte remained within arm's reach, trailing by seven at the end of the period. Charlotte trimmed the deficit to four early in the second behind the play of Brian Roberts, who scored four straight. However, the Pelicans still kept the advantage heading into the locker room, leading, 48-41. The Hornets tried to make a run late in the third, cutting the deficit to seven, but they found themselves still trailing at the end of the quarter. Walker was just limited to four points in the third after exploding for 14 in the first half. The final quarter was a different story, as the Hornets came off hot. Brian Roberts buried a three to tie the game at 70-all. After a series of sequences, the Hornets took an 86-81 lead with 5:01 to go. The Pelicans tried to make a run, but it wasn't enough to defeat the Hornets, who got a huge lift from Walker in the final quarter. Walker exploded for 13 more points in the fourth, which included a game-winning bank shot plus a foul with three seconds left to give Charlotte the win. Gerald Henderson contributed with 16 points for Charlotte, who have been on a roll of late. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist added 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Brian Roberts had 10 points off the bench. Anthony Davis exploded for 32 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Pelicans. Davis notched his 21st double-double of the season, leading the league in that category. Jrue Holiday added 16 points and nine assists for the Pelicans. Despite the victory, Charlotte is still on the bottom of their division with a 13-24 record.
