Eighth-ranked Wollongong Hawks (3-17) made lots of trouble for first ranked New Zealand Breakers (16-5) in Auckland on Thursday. New Zealand Breakers managed to secure only seven-point victory 98-91. However their fans expected much easier game. Wollongong Hawks were tied after three quarters and then recorded another tie at the end of regular time. They were eventually defeated in overtime 9-16s. New Zealand Breakers made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Wollongong Hawks were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch.
