The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Liaoning Hunters (28-3) in Yingkou on Friday night. Hosts were edged by second ranked Guandong Tigers (26-3) 114-111. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Liaoning Hunters. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Liaoning Hunters trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 38-28 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 111-114 at the end of the game. Guandong Tigers made 27-of-29 free shots (93.1 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 51.7 percentage. American point guard Will Bynum (183-83, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Priority Sports) scored 46 points (!!!) and 6 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international Jianlian Yi (212-87) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Guandong Tigers' coach Feng Du used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American Lester Hudson (190-84, college: Tenn-Martin, agency: Priority Sports) with 37 points (!!!) and 5 assists and his fellow American import forward Deon Thompson (203-88, college: N.Carolina) scored 22 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Guandong Tigers have an impressive 15-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 26-3 record having 2 victories less than leader Liaoning H. Liaoning Hunters at the other side still keep top place with three games lost. Guandong Tigers are looking forward to face TianJin Steel (#13) in Tianjin in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Liaoning Hunters will play on the road against Bayi Rockets (#18) in Ningbo and are hoping to win this game.
