There was a minor upset in Sydney where 5th ranked Kings (7-11) were defeated by seventh ranked Townsville Crocodiles (7-13) 98-89 on Friday. Kings trailed by 15 points after 3 quarters before a 28-22 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 89-98 at the end of the game. Townsville Crocodiles made 21-of-23 free shots (91.3 percent) during the game. Townsville Crocodiles outrebounded Kings 41-28 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Townsville Crocodiles made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was American forward Brian Conklin (198-89, college: St.Louis) who scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. The other American import center Mickell Gladness (211-86) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks. Townsville Crocodiles' coach Shawn Dennis used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International swingman Ben Madgen (193-85, college: GRU) produced 18 points and American swingman Josh Childress (203-83, college: Stanford) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts.
