There was a minor upset in Melbourne where one of their biggest challengers United (10-9) was edged by sixth ranked Adelaide 36ers (8-11) 91-89 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 12 points after three quarters before their 27-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Adelaide 36ers made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Adelaide 36ers outrebounded United 43-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American point guard Jamar Wilson (185-84, college: Albany) who scored 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international Brock Motum (207-90, college: Washington St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds. American guard Jordan McRae (198-91, college: Tennessee) produced 16 points and 7 rebounds and the former international forward David Barlow (205-83, college: Metro St.) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. United's coach Chris Anstey rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Adelaide 36ers moved-up to fifth place. United at the other side keeps the fourth position with nine games lost. Adelaide 36ers will face bottom-ranked Wollongong Hawks (#8) in Gwynneville in the next round. United will play on the road against Perth Wildcats (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
