Regular Season Round 13: BG 89 Avides - Marburg 81-59

Date: January 10, 2015
Very predictable result when fourth ranked Rotenburg/Scheessel (8-5) smashed at home 9th ranked BC Pharmaserv Marburg (4-9) 81-59. The game was mostly controlled by Rotenburg/Scheessel. BC Pharmaserv Marburg was better in fourth quarter 15-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rotenburg/Scheessel made 22-of-24 charity shots (91.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 BC Pharmaserv Marburg turnovers. It was a very good performance for American power forward Kierra Mallard (190-90, college: Texas Tech) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds (made all of her eight free throws). The former international guard Pia Mankertz (170-90) contributed with 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Rotenburg/Scheessel players scored in double figures. Rotenburg/Scheessel had such big advantage that coach Christian Greve felt comfortable to give the chance to play for 10 players saving starting five for next games. American swingman Alissa Pierce (177-86) answered with 17 points and 6 rebounds and the former international center Lisa Koop (197-85, college: Winthrop) added 7 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for BC Pharmaserv Marburg. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Rotenburg/Scheessel. Newly promoted Rotenburg/Scheessel maintains fourth place with 8-5 record, which they share with Donau-Ries. BC Pharmaserv Marburg at the other side dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. Rotenburg/Scheessel's next round opponent will be league's leader TSV 1880 Wasserburg on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BC Pharmaserv Marburg will play against the league's second-placed TV Saarlouis Royals (#2) and hope to win that game.
