Regular Season Round 15: Pogon Prudnik - Zaglebie 72-84

Rather predictable result when eighth ranked Zaglebie (8-7) defeated on the road 12th ranked Pogon Prudnik (5-10) 84-72 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Zaglebie. Pogon Prudnik was better in second period 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for Marek Piechowicz (201-88) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Grzegorz Mordzak (182-77) helped adding 19 points and 5 assists. Four Zaglebie players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Artur Grygiel (188-88) with 18 points and 4 assists and power forward Adam Cichon (203-90) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. Pogon Prudnik's coach Tomasz Michalak rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Zaglebie. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Znicz Basket. Pogon Prudnik at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the eleventh position with ten games lost. Zaglebie will face higher ranked Legia (#6) in Warszawa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pogon Prudnik will play on the road against SKK Siedlce (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
