A very close game took place in Lodz between Sleza Wroclaw and Widzew. Seventh ranked Sleza Wroclaw (6-8) got a very close victory on the road over 10th ranked Widzew (3-11). Sleza Wroclaw managed to escape with a 2-point win 76-74 on Saturday evening. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 36-31 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. American guard Jhasmin Player (178-87, college: Baylor, agency: Merit Management Group) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international point guard Paulina Pawlak (170-84) supported her with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Even a double-double of 18 points and 17 rebounds by American power forward Sarah Boothe (195-90, college: Stanford) did not help to save the game for Widzew. Roksana Schmidt (180-92) added 13 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Four Widzew players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Sleza Wroclaw maintains seventh position with 6-8 record. Widzew lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with 11 games lost. Sleza Wroclaw will meet at home league's leader Wisla Krakow in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Widzew will play against Rybnik (#6) and hope to secure a win.
