Very important is a road loss of third ranked Istanbul Universitesi (8-3) against eighth ranked Edirne (6-5) on Saturday night. Visiting Istanbul Universitesi was defeated by Edirne in a tough game in Edirne 62-70. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Istanbul Universitesi. It looked good early as Istanbul Universitesi took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Edirne had a 23-10 second period charge getting the lead and Istanbul Universitesi was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 62-70. Edirne made 16-of-19 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Strangely Istanbul Universitesi outrebounded Edirne 54-35 including a 17-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American swingman Marissa Coleman (185-87, college: Maryland) who led her team to a victory scoring 22 points and 8 rebounds. Her fellow American import guard Lindsey Harding (173-84, college: Duke) helped adding 14 points and 7 rebounds. American center Courtney Paris (191-87, college: Oklahoma) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 16 rebounds and center Kubra Dicle (187-92) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 16 rebounds. Four Edirne and five Istanbul Universitesi players scored in double figures. Edirne have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Istanbul Universitesi at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. They share it with Fenerbahce. Edirne will play against Osmaniye (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Istanbul Universitesi will play against Orduspor (#11) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
