Regular Season Round 9: Leganes - Segle XXI 62-53

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Leganes and 6th ranked Segle XXI had identical 4-4 record. This time Leganes used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Barcelona 62-53 on Saturday night. The hosts trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 34-20 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Leganes forced 21 Segle XXI turnovers. It was a good game for forward Paula Justel (187-92) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. Lucia Togores (176-96) contributed with 10 points for the winners. point guard Clara Che (172-97) answered with 14 points and forward Paula Ginzo (187-98) added 9 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Segle XXI. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Leganes. They maintain fifth place in Group B with 5-4 record, which they share with IF Air Europa. Loser Segle XXI dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Leganes will face UCAM Jairis (#10) in Alcantarilla in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Segle XXI will play at home against C.Adelantados and hope to win that game.
