Very predictable result when tenth ranked Gediz (8-8) rolled over 16th ranked Afyon (4-12) in Afyonkarahisar 104-82 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 16-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 104-82. Gediz made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. Afyon was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for American forward K'Zell Wesson (201-77, college: La Salle) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 29 points and 14 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Guard Cagdas Erdogan (188-88, agency: 1x1 Sports) contributed with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. The former international Reha Oz (200-78) replied with 26 points and 7 rebounds and the former international guard Firat Aydemir (187-80) added 19 points and 4 assists in the effort for Afyon. Five Gediz and four Afyon players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Gediz moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Afyon at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fifteenth position with 12 games lost. Gediz will face higher ranked Socar Petkim (#6) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
