There was no surprise when 7th ranked Belfius Mons-Hainaut (7-7) was crushed on the road by fifth ranked Antwerp Giants (8-5) 85-64 on Saturday. The game without a history. Antwerp Giants led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The best player for the winners was American forward Ryan Pearson (198-90, college: George Mason, agency: Court Side) who scored 22 points. International forward Jean-Marc Mwema (195-89, agency: Court Side) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Four Antwerp Giants players scored in double figures. Antwerp Giants' coach Paul Vervaeck felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Jason Love (206-87, college: Xavier) who recorded 14 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import Austin Nichols (200-82, college: Humboldt St.) added 10 points respectively. Antwerp Giants moved-up to third place. Belfius Mons-Hainaut at the other side dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. Antwerp Giants will face Kangoeroes (#10) in Willebroek in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Belfius Mons-Hainaut will play at home against Liege Basket (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
