Bottom-ranked AZS PP managed to get a third victory, breaking the series of six consecutive loses on Saturday night. This time they edged eleventh-ranked GKS Tychy in Poznan 75-73. GKS Tychy trailed by 16 points after 3 quarters before a 27-11 run in the last quarter tied the game at the end of regular time, But then they lost eventually overtime period 9-11. AZS PP dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to GKS Tychy's 24. AZS PP forced 23 GKS Tychy turnovers. Strangely GKS Tychy outrebounded AZS PP 45-30 including 22 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was power forward Maciej Rostalski (198-90) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Tomasz Baszak (183-82) chipped in 18 points and 4 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was Marcin Wrobel (200-87) who recorded 4 points and 12 rebounds and swingman Jakub Garbacz (197-94) added 14 points and 4 steals respectively. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. AZS PP maintains fourteenth place with 3-12 record. GKS Tychy lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with ten games lost. They share it with Pogon Prudnik. AZS PP will meet higher ranked Spojnia (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. GKS Tychy will play against the league's leader Stal Ostrow (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
