Regular Season Round 70: New York K. - Charlotte H. 82-110
Date: January 10, 2015
The Charlotte Hornets delivered the New York Knick's worst loss this season, a 110-82 beating at the Madison Square Garden. The Knicks fans who cared to watch the game did not appreciate the home team's effort and loudly booed Knicks head coach Derek Fisher after the game. New York has lost 15 games in a row. Kemba Walker led the Hornets with 28 points and 7 assists in just 28 minutes, while young big man Bismack Biyombo had a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Hornets, which has now won five games in a row to improve to 15-24 just 1 and 1/2 games back off the Miami Heat for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Playing limited minutes, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist added 10 points and 9 rebounds while Gerald Henderson had 9 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists. Brian Roberts and P.J. Hairston had big minutes because of the blowout and had 14 and 15 points, respectively for the Hornets, which had a 62-31 lead at halftime. Tim Hardaway Jr. had 15 points and Quincy Acy had 18 for the losing team. The Knicks shot an atrocious 38.8% clip from the field including 8-of-29 (27.6%) from the three-point line. The Knicks currently own a 5-35 win-loss record- the worst in the entire league. The only good news for the Knicks is that they are now clearly ahead of the race for the most ping-pong balls for the upcoming 2015 NBA Draft. Charlotte's winning run and turnaround is happening without their leading stars Al Jefferson and Lance Stephenson. Both are still out due to injuries. Hornets head coach Steve Clifford credited his team's offence in this streak as the culprit of their good play recently. Courtesy of: ibtimes.com
