The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Prievidza as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Prievidza smashed 10th ranked Nitra at home 80-52. The game without a history. Prievidza led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Nitra's 34 and made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Prievidza forced 33 Nitra turnovers. Strangely Nitra outrebounded Prievidza 37-24 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Croatian power forward Drazen Klaric (205-80) fired 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Jontel Evans (180-90, college: Virginia) chipped in 16 points and 5 assists. Four Prievidza players scored in double figures. The former international Roman Vido (204-88) produced 22 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Justin Ward (203-91, college: Lakeland) added 11 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Prievidza (20-5) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Inter Bratislava and Rieker KN. Nitra at the other side stay dead last with 21 lost games. Nitra will play next round against SKP Banska Bystrica trying to get back on the winning streak. Prievidza will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Nova Ves on the road.
