Regular Season Round 9: Ensino - Aros Leon 72-70

Fifth-ranked Aros Leon (5-4) was very close to win a game against leader Maquinaria Ensino (9-0) in Lugo. Maquinaria Ensino managed to secure only two-point victory 72-70. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-12. But Aros Leon won second period 27-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The former international forward Mireia Navarrete (184-80) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and center Marta Lema (186-92) chipped in 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Maquinaria Ensino players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American power forward Aulani Sinclair (186-90, college: Indiana) with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Lucia Pablos (172-85, college: Northeastern, agency: Josep and Nicolas) scored 19 points. Aros Leon's coach Isabel Fernandez tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Maquinaria Ensino have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place in Group A with 9-0 record. Aros Leon at the other side keeps the fifth position with four games lost. Maquinaria Ensino will play against UCAM Jairis (#10) in Alcantarilla in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Aros Leon will play on the road against the league's second-placed GDKO Bizkaia (#2) in Galdakao and hopes to get back on the winning track.
