Regular Season Round 16: Sevilla - Gipuzkoa 61-76

Everything went according to plan when fourteenth ranked Gipuzkoa (6-10) defeated on the road bottom-ranked Sevilla (3-13) 76-61 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Gipuzkoa. Sevilla was better in fourth quarter 22-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gipuzkoa looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Sevilla's players. It was a very good performance for power forward Daniel Diez (202-93) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds. American guard Taquan Dean (193-83, college: Louisville, agency: Two Points) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Gipuzkoa's coach Jaume Ponsarnau used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Latvian power forward Kristaps Porzingis (215-95) replied with 16 points and 5 rebounds and guard Alex Urtasun (193-84) added 11 points in the effort for Sevilla. Gipuzkoa moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Estudiantes and Iberostar Tener. Sevilla lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Gipuzkoa will face higher ranked CAI Zaragoza (#8) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sevilla will play against FIATC Joventut (#3) having rather not much hope for a victory.
