Regular Season Round 16: Svendborg - Bakken 93-95

The most exciting game of round 16 in the Ligaen took place in Svendborg. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 3rd ranked Svendborg (11-5) to first ranked Bakken (14-1) 95-93 on Monday evening. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 29-20. But Svendborg won second period 28-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The former international power forward Nicolai Iversen (205-80, college: San Jose City JC) fired a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Maurice Acker (176-87, college: Marquette) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 assists. Four Bakken players scored in double figures. Argentinian-Italian point guard Antonio Porta (187-83, agency: Players Group) produced a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 10 assists and American center William Paul (208-88, college: Arkansas Tech) added 18 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Svendborg's coach Craig Pedersen rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Bakken have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 14-1 record. Svendborg at the other side keeps the third place with five games lost. Bakken are looking forward to face Horsholm (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Svendborg will play against the league's second-placed Horsens IC (#2) in Horsens and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
