Regular Season Round 25: Uppsala - Sundsvall 77-79

The most exciting game of round 25 in the Basketligan took place in Uppsala. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 4th placed Uppsala Basket (13-7) to sixth ranked Sundsvall Dragons (13-7) 79-77 in the game for the fifth place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Uppsala Basket. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-16. But Uppsala Basket won second period 24-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of Icelandic point guard Jakob Sigurdarson (192-82, college: Birm.Southern) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 5 rebounds. Icelandic forward Hlynur Baeringsson (200-82) contributed with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Swingman Axel Nordstrom (193-91) answered with 14 points and 8 rebounds and the former international power forward Brice Massamba (208-88, college: UNLV) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Uppsala Basket. Five Uppsala Basket players scored in double figures. Sundsvall Dragons moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Uppsala. Sundsvall Dragons is looking forward to face Solna Vikings (#7) at home in the next round. Uppsala Basket will play against Nassjo and is hoping to win this game.
