Sao Jose dos Campos got to the winning start of their Liga Americas campaign. The hosts thrashed Leones de Managua in Group A opener for both sides. Andre Stefanelli chipped in 24 points to lead the winners. Sao Jose unloaded 25 points in the first period to take a 7-point lead. The hosts fired 30 points in the second term to gain a comfortable 55:41 halftime advantage. Sao Jose followed with a stunning 20:9 rally in the third term to clear off for good. William Drudi had 12 points, while Jimmy Baxter delivered 11 points for the Brazilian side. Miguel Ali Berdiel responded with 23 points for Leones. Manuel Narvaez had 13 points in the loss.
