Regular Season Round 18: ALBA - Walter Tigers 84-78

BBL top team - ALBA Berlin (17-1) added another victory to their record. This time they beat sixteenth ranked Walter Tigers (5-13) 84-78. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 26-20. But Walter Tigers won second period 24-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when ALBA Berlin won last quarter 24-19. Americans were the main players on the court. Swingman Reggie Redding (196-88, college: Villanova) notched 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and forward Jamel McLean (203-88, college: Xavier, agency: Beo Basket) supported him with 18 points and 8 rebounds. ALBA Berlin's coach Sasa Obradovic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds by forward Augustine Rubit (201-89, college: S.Alabama) did not help to save the game for Walter Tigers. Guard Jimmy McKinney (192-83, college: Missouri) added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Walter Tigers players scored in double figures. ALBA Berlin have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 17-1 record. Walter Tigers at the other side keep the sixteenth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Bremerhaven. ALBA Berlin will play against Mitteldeutscher BC (#13) in Weissenfels in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Walter Tigers will play at home against EnBW Ludwigsburg and hope to get back on the winning track.
