Regular Season Round 16: Rist Wedel - Braunschweig 79-66

Very important is a road loss of third ranked DRUFF! (9-8) against fourth ranked SC Rist Wedel (10-7) on Saturday night. Visiting DRUFF! was defeated by SC Rist Wedel in Wedel 79-66. It was a key game for the second position in Group North. SC Rist Wedel made 17-of-20 charity shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Brandon Spearman (190-91, college: Hawaii, agency: Warren Sports International) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 7 rebounds. The other American import point guard Diante Watkins (174-90, college: Robert Morris) contributed with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Spearman is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four SC Rist Wedel players scored in double figures. Robin Amaize (188-94) replied with 11 points and 5 assists and power forward Sid Marlon Theis (204-93) added 13 points in the effort for DRUFF!. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. SC Rist Wedel have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place in Group North. DRUFF! at the other side dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. They share it with Oldenburg and Dresden. SC Rist Wedel will play against Oldenburg (#4) on the road in the next round. DRUFF! will play against Sixers and hopes to get back on the winning track.
