Regular Season Round 17: Canarias - Marin 82-62

We should mention about the upset which took place in Gran Canaria, where higher ranked Marin (8-7) was outleveled in a road game by twelfth ranked Canarias (5-10) 82-62. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Marin. The game was mostly controlled by Canarias. Marin was better in fourth quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Canarias forced 25 Marin turnovers and outrebounded them 42-27 including 17 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American guard Kaleb Wright (193, college: Emporia St.) nailed 20 points and 4 assists for the winning side and forward Jacobo Diaz (195-96) accounted for 13 points and 9 rebounds. American-Nigerian forward Ike Azotam (201-91, college: Quinnipiac) came up with 20 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Gabe Rogers (188-90, college: N.Arizona) added 15 points respectively for Marin in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Canarias moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with CB Tarragona. Marin at the other side dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. Canarias' next round opponent will be higher ranked Azpeitia (#10) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
