Not a big story in a game in Istanbul where 17th ranked Pertevniyal (4-13) was defeated by fifth ranked Akhisar Bld (12-5) 69-59 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Akhisar Bld. Pertevniyal was better in second period 20-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Akhisar Bld forced 25 Pertevniyal turnovers. American-New Zealand forward Marcel Jones (203-85, college: Oregon St.) stepped up and scored 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and American forward Lance Goulbourne (203-89, college: Vanderbilt) chipped in 13 points and 11 rebounds. Berk Demir (203-95) responded with 13 points and 5 rebounds and forward Okben Ulubay (200-97) scored 13 points and 5 steals. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Akhisar Bld moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Balikesir. Pertevniyal lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the fifteenth position with 13 games lost. Akhisar Bld will face Yesilgiresun (#10) in Giresun in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Pertevniyal's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Istanbul Istanbul DSI.
