The game between closely ranked teams ended with 11th ranked Speyer's (4-12) road loss to tenth ranked Licher Basket (6-10) 64-87 on Saturday. Licher Basket shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. American guard Jermale Jones (186-86, college: Tuskegee) orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). His fellow American import Andrae Nelson (201-91, college: Morehouse) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Swingman Sebastian Heck (198-95, agency: Blacktop Management) answered with 13 points and 5 rebounds and American Marcus Smallwood (200-82, college: N.Illinois, agency: R.H.Consultancy) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Speyer. Four Speyer players scored in double figures. Licher Basket moved-up to ninth place in Group South, which they share with Langen. Speyer lost their third game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Licher Basket will face higher ranked Weissenhorn Youngstars (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Speyer will play against the league's second-placed Wuerzburg (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
