Malvin gained a crucial victory in Liga Americas Group B. They toppled hosting Pioneros in Cancun to stay alive in the race for the next stage birth. Kennedy Winston stepped up with 23 points to lead the Uruguayan team. Pioneros and Malvin stayed nip and tuck throughout the first period. The hosts snatched a 24:23 lead at the first intermission. Malvin stiffened defensively in the second frame. They limited Pioneros to just 11 points and spurred ahead for a 40:35 halftime lead. Malvin boosted the lead in the third term. The visitors arrived at the final intermission up by 7 points. Pioneros held Malvin to just 14 points in the fourth quarter but could not avoid the defeat at the end. Nicolas Mazzarino had 11 points, while Ruben Garces contributed 10 points and 9 rebounds in the victory. Denis Clemente responded with 14 points for Pioneros. Justin Keenan topscored with 18 points in the loss.
