Regular Season Round 19: Heidelberg - Ehingen 86-81
Date: January 25, 2015
There was no surprise when 15th ranked Ehingen/Urspringschule (3-16) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (13-6) 86-81 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. MLP Academics Heidelberg looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for naturalized American center Waverly Austin (211-91, college: Oregon) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 8 rebounds. American guard Bradley Tinsley (191-89, college: Vanderbilt) helped adding 13 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side power forward Johannes Joos (204-95) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and Joey Ney (198-92) scored 15 points and 5 assists (made all of his eight free throws). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for MLP Academics Heidelberg. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Nuernberg and Gotha. Ehingen/Urspringschule lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the bottom position with 16 games lost. They share it with Cuxhaven. MLP Academics Heidelberg will meet Finke Baskets (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Ehingen/Urspringschule will play against SC Rasta Vechta and hope to secure a win.
