Regular Season Round 6: Pioneros - Flamengo 86-81

Pioneros de Quintana Roo celebrated a crucial victory in the third round of Liga Americas Group B action. They held off Flamengo in Cancun to advance into the Second Stage of the tournament. Justin Keenan stepped up with 22 points to lead the Mexican side. Flamengo also advanced into the next round in spite of the loss. Flamengo got to a very strong start. The Brazilian team dropped 31 points in the opening quarter to ensure a 14-point lead. Pioneros unloaded 30 points in the second stanza to get within 7 points at halftime 47:54. The third term became decisive. Pioneros triggered a 23:9 rally in the third term and surged ahead for a 70:63 lead. Flamengo pulled closer in the final quarter but could not avoid the defeat at the end. Hector Hernandez chipped in 19 points and 9 rebounds, while Romel Beck added 10 points for the hosts. Walter Herrmann responded with 26 points and 8 rebounds for Flamengo. Nicolas Laprovittola tossed in 12 points and dished out 12 assists in the loss.
