Very important is a home loss of third ranked Toyama Grouses (22-8) against twelfth ranked Saitama Broncos (2-28) on Sunday night. Host Toyama Grouses were defeated by Saitama Broncos in a tough game in Toyama 90-97. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Toyama Grouses. Toyama Grouses were ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 55-46 second half run of Saitama Broncos. Strangely Toyama Grouses outrebounded Saitama Broncos 38-23 including 24 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by point guard Koji Nagata (180-81) who scored that evening 18 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and guard Janya Masumoto (183-88) supported him with 17 points and 4 assists. Five Saitama Broncos players scored in double figures. Even 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists by Joho Masashi (183-82) did not help to save the game for Toyama Grouses. Guard Mito Takeshi (184-85) added 21 points for the hosts. Saitama Broncos maintains twelfth position with 2-28 record. Toyama Grouses at the other side keep the third place with eight games lost. Saitama Broncos' next round opponent will be higher ranked Yokohama BC (#10) on the road and it may be quite challenging game. Toyama Grouses will play against Fukushima (#9) and hope to win that game.
