The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Argon Uni Girona (15-2) in San Sebastian on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by eleventh ranked Gipuzkoa UPV (6-11) 76-64. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Argon Uni Girona. Argon Uni Girona was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Senegalese power forward Oumoul Sarr (185-84) stepped up and scored 16 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners and point guard Maria Gomez (170-82) chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Gipuzkoa UPV players scored in double figures. American guard Brittany Chambers (173-91, college: Kansas St., agency: Josep and Nicolas) responded with 23 points and forward Anna Carbo (176-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas) scored 16 points. Gipuzkoa UPV moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Ferrol and Gran Canaria. Argon Uni Girona at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. They share it with Perfumerias. Gipuzkoa UPV is looking forward to face higher ranked Cadi La Seu (#4) in Seu D'urgell in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Argon Uni Girona will play at home against Zamarat and is hoping to win this game.
