No shocking result in a game when third ranked Greek Panathinaikos (4-2) beat on the road 5th ranked German ALBA Berlin (2-4) 65-59 on Friday. ALBA Berlin was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Panathinaikos forced 22 ALBA Berlin turnovers. ALBA Berlin was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for forward Antonis Fotsis (209-81) who led his team to a victory with 9 points and 8 rebounds. Center Loukas Mavrokefalidis (207-84) contributed with 11 points for the winners. American swingman Reggie Redding (196-88, college: Villanova) replied with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Croatian power forward Leon Radosevic (208-90) added 9 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for ALBA Berlin. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending Greek champion maintains third position in Group E with 4-2 record behind leader Maccabi T-A. ALBA Berlin at the other side keeps the fifth place with four games lost. Panathinaikos will face bottom-ranked Crvena Zvezda (#8) in Beograd in the next round where they are favorite. ALBA Berlin will play on the road against the group's leader Maccabi T-A in Tel-Aviv and hope to win that game.
