The game in supposed to be also worth to mention about. Second ranked Santiago (11-4) played at the court of 7th ranked Las Tunas (3-12). Santiago smashed Las Tunas 83-58. The game without a history. Santiago led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Las Tunas to just 5 points in second quarter. Santiago dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Las Tunas' 30. Santiago forced 19 Las Tunas turnovers. It was a good game for international center Javier Justiz (205-92) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Eddy Hechevarria (193-86) contributed with 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guard Alejandro Gomez (170-83) answered with 19 points and 9 assists and swingman Yosniel Morales (196-87) added 11 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Las Tunas. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Santiago maintains second place with 11-4 record having four points less than leader Capitalinos. Las Tunas lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keep the seventh position with 12 games lost. Santiago will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Las Tunas will play again against the league's second-placed Santiago (#2) and hope to get back on the winning track.
