Very important is a road loss of third ranked Wuerzburg (11-7) against sixth ranked Dragons Rhoendorf (10-8) on Saturday night. Visiting Wuerzburg was defeated by Dragons Rhoendorf in a tough game in Rhoendorf 68-75. Dragons Rhoendorf made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Wuerzburg turnovers. The game was dominated by American players. It was a great evening for power forward Justin Smith (201-87, college: Hawaii-Hilo) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds. Theron Laudermill (202-89, college: CS San Bernar.) helped adding 13 points and 9 rebounds. Laudermill is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Dragons Rhoendorf players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Donovan Morris (191-84, college: Long Beach St.) responded with 22 points and 8 rebounds and center John Florveus (211-90, college: Georgia) scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. Dragons Rhoendorf have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place in Group South, which they share with Hanau. Newly promoted Wuerzburg keeps the third position with seven games lost. Dragons Rhoendorf will meet at home Fraport Skyliners II (#7) in the next round. Wuerzburg will play against the league's second-placed Weissenhorn Youngstars (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
