Quarter-Finals Round 1: Shanxi Zh. - Qingdao E. 113-115

Qingdao escaped with a narrow victory over Shanxi in the opening game of the quarterfinal series. Shanxi Zhongyu was ahead by 13 points after three quarters before a 36-21 charge of Qingdao Eagles, which allowed them to win the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 42 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field) for the winners and Iranian center Hamed Haddadi (218-85) chipped in 16 points, 15 rebounds and 8 assists. Qingdao Eagles' coach Qiuping Liu allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side American guard Von Wafer (196-85, college: Florida St.) responded with 37 points (!!!) and 7 assists and the other American import forward Jeremy Tyler (208-91, college: Louisville) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Four Qingdao Eagles and five Shanxi Zhongyu players scored in double figures.
