Regular Season Round 16: Keltern - Trier 98-55

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Gruner Stern Keltern as it allowed them to take a leadership position in South. Gruner Stern Keltern smashed 11th ranked Trier at home 98-55. Gruner Stern Keltern dominated on the defensive end, holding Trier to just 4 points in third quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Trier's 36. Gruner Stern Keltern forced 19 Trier turnovers and outrebounded them 39-26 including 25 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Ana-Maria Kammer (180-86) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 5 rebounds. American guard Melissa Zornig (177-92, college: UCSB) contributed with 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Five Gruner Stern Keltern players scored in double figures. Gruner Stern Keltern's coach Peter Kortmann felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Jana Genttner (173-94) replied with 13 points and point guard Denise Thieltges (163-88) added 13 points in the effort for Trier. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Bamberg. Trier lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the twelfth place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Muenchen B.. Trier will play next round against BasCats Heidelberg trying to get back on the winning streak. Gruner Stern Keltern will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Ladybaskets Wuerzburg on the road.
