Regular Season Round 19: Hapoel T-A - Maccabi Ashdod 98-103 OT

Bottom-ranked Maccabi Ashdod managed to get a fifth victory. This time they won against fourth-ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv 103-98. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-16. But Hapoel Tel-Aviv won second period 20-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Hapoel Tel-Aviv used huge pressure winning it 30-27 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 12-17. Maccabi Ashdod players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward James Nunnally (201-90, college: UCSB) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists. Yehu Orland (193-81) accounted for 24 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. The former international Raviv Limonad (191-84) came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 assists and American-Jamaican swingman Durand Scott (196-90, college: Miami, FL) added 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his seven free throws) respectively for Hapoel Tel-Aviv in the defeat. Five Maccabi Ashdod and four Hapoel Tel-Aviv players scored in double figures. Maccabi Ashdod (5-14) moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Galil Gilboa. Hapoel Tel-Aviv at the other side keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. Maccabi Ashdod will play against Galil Gilboa (#11) in Rosh Pina in the next round. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will play on the road against Maccabi Rishon (#6) in Rishon Le-Zion and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
