Regular Season Round 24: Rapid - Timisoara 65-95

Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked Rapid (1-22) was outscored by eighth ranked Timisoara (13-10) in Bucuresti 95-65. The game without a history. Timisoara led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Rapid's 28. They outrebounded Rapid 43-20 including a 30-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Timisoara players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Rapid's players. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was Serbian Biljana Pesovic (180-83) who scored 20 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Serbian center Jelena Maksimovic (192-82) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Five Timisoara players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Elena Constantin (167-86) who recorded 27 points and forward Daniela Bucica (179-86) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Timisoara have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place. Rapid lost twenty first consecutive game. They stay dead last with 22 lost games. Timisoara's next round opponent will be Cluj Napoca (#11) on the road. Rapid will play against Satu Mare and hope to win that game.
