Regular Season Round 33: USK Praha - Svitavy 75-60

There was a minor upset when 9th ranked Basketbal Svitavy (12-19) was defeated on the road by eleventh ranked USK Praha (10-21) 75-60. It looked good early as Basketbal Svitavy took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then USK Praha had a 14-7 second period charge getting the lead and Basketbal Svitavy was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 60-75. USK Praha dominated on the defensive end, holding Basketbal Svitavy to just 7 points in second quarter. Forward Jan Sterba (200-95) nailed a double-double by scoring 11 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and Slovenian forward Mitja Nikolic-Smrdelj (200-91) accounted for 18 points. Five USK Praha players scored in double figures. USK Praha's coach Mirsad Alilovic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American Cory Abercrombie (201-85, college: Independence CC) came up with 11 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Michal Sotnar (187-92) added 13 points respectively for Basketbal Svitavy in the defeat. USK Praha maintains eleventh place with 10-21 record. Basketbal Svitavy at the other side keeps the ninth position with 19 games lost. USK Praha's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Prostejov at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
