Regular Season Round 17: IMOS Brno - BLK Praha 87-85

Seventh-ranked BLK Praha (7-8) gave a tough game to third ranked IMOS Brno (11-6) on Saturday. IMOS Brno managed to secure only two-point victory 87-85. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 22-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely BLK Praha outrebounded IMOS Brno 40-22 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Slovakian guard Ivana Jalcova (183-83) stepped up and scored 23 points for the winners and international forward Michaela Stejskalova (186-87) chipped in 18 points. Five IMOS Brno players scored in double figures. American center Shakeya Leary (190-90, college: Syracuse) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 19 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and the other American import forward Baendu Lowenthal (183-88, college: Fairfield) scored 25 points and 9 rebounds. IMOS Brno have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place with 11-6 record having just two points less than leader Sokol HK. BLK Praha at the other side keeps the seventh position with eight games lost. IMOS Brno are looking forward to face Nymburk (#4) on the road in the next round. BLK Praha will play against Kara Trutnov and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
