Regular Season Round 17: Aris - KAOD 78-75

Twelfth-ranked KAOD (5-12) gave a tough game to fourth ranked Aris (10-6) in Thessaloniki on Wednesday. Aris managed to secure only three-point victory 78-75. However their fans expected much easier game. KAOD was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. The best player for the winners was American center Andrew Naymick (209-85, agency: Warren Sports International) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. Cypriot-Bulgarian Aleksandar Vezenkov (206-95, college: Xavier) chipped in 20 points. American-Hungarian point guard Obadiah Trotter (188-84, college: Alabama A&M) produced 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Roderick Odom (206-91, college: Vanderbilt) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. KAOD's coach Konstantinos Mexas let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Aris maintains fourth place with 10-6 record. Loser KAOD keeps the twelfth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Panelefsiniakos. Aris will meet Nea Kifisia (#8) in the next round. KAOD will play against Koroivos (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
