Very predictable result in Athens where sixth ranked AGOR (9-8) defeated bottom-ranked Panionios (3-14) 84-79 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 84-79. AGOR outrebounded Panionios 43-20 including a 27-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international guard Giannis Kalambokis (195-78, agency: Octagon Europe) stepped up and scored 28 points and 5 assists for the winners and Senegalese forward Mouhammad Faye (208-85, college: SMU) chipped in 12 points and 14 rebounds. American William Coleman (206-88, college: Memphis) responded with 24 points and 5 rebounds and the former international point guard Vasilis Xanthopoulos (188-84, agency: Octagon Europe) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 assists. Four Panionios players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. AGOR moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Apollon Patras. AGOR will face league's second-placed Panathinaikos in Athens in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Panionios will play on the road against PAOK (#3) in Thessaloniki and hope to win that game.
